Tony Earl, former teacher at Eltham College has passed away, aged 74. Tony had major heart surgery at Harefield a couple of months ago, from which he never really recovered. These final weeks were very frustrating for someone as active and independent as he was; in his final weeks he was well cared for and he was in no pain at the end. Tony was Head of Modern Languages at Eltham College for nearly 30 years, under four Headmasters. His innovative approach and emphasis on travel and study abroad transformed the learning of languages at our school and many OEs, especially those who were here in the 1970s and 1980s, owe a great deal to his inspirational teaching. He also took a leading role in the College Society, Oxbridge applications and Community Service.
