Roger Scopes: My Life in Paintings

Friday, 1 February, 2019 -- joe

Many OEs, especially older ones, will know Roger Scopes who left Eltham College in 1954 and has been a strong supporter of the school ever since, including for many years working as Secretary to the OE Association.  After writing booklets about his three brothers, all OEs - Peter (1946), Jon (1948) and Barrie (1950) – Roger has finally produced the best in the series, one about himself.

A Life Story Told in Paintings is a beautiful little book, covering every stage of Roger’s life with high-class reproductions of his paintings on every page.   From his childhood in India, to school at Eltham College, to Oxford University, working as a minister in the Congregational Church and later the United Reformed Church, holidays in France and Switzerland, to retirement to Thame, Roger’s art covers trees, churches, landscapes, rivers, buildings and animals.

If anyone would like to purchase a copy of the booklet, please email Roger on rogerscopes@btinternet.com and he will take your order. The cost including postage is £8.00.

Here are three of his paintings from the pages about Eltham College:
