On Monday 12th November a TV crew from China came to Eltham College as part of their research into Eric Liddell, who was born there of missionary parents in 1902 and went back as a teacher and later a missionary himself. The Chinese team filmed the Eric Liddell Sports Centre, the Chapel, the many documents we have about him in the school archives, the photos of him in our sports teams and his name on several honours boards, as well as visiting College Meadow Pavilion which was opened by his daughter in 1912 and has a plaque about his life. Headmaster Guy Sanderson and Archivist Mark Stickings gave interviews to the cameras, as did our Mandarin teacher Ms Su. Pupils Joe and Arrien spoke to the TV crew in Mandarin about Eric Liddell, and two of our sporting stars, James and Caitlin, explained what Eric Liddell still means to us all now. The TV team then departed for five days in Edinburgh to continue their study of Eric Liddell which will result in a documentary on Chinese television in the New Year.
